Allergens, Food Intolerances and other Special Dietary Requirements

At Educatering Solutions, we are more than happy to provide menu advice where needed and support customers whose children suffer with medically diagnosed allergens and food intolerances.

Too often children are unable to participate in key aspect of their educational life due to challenges around safe food options for their respective allergies/ intolerances. At Educatering Solutions, we strongly believe that no child should feel isolated at school due to their dietary requirements.

Research has shown that an average of two children per school class in all schools have challenges around their food allergies, and experts predict that approximately 70% of the population may struggle with a food allergy by 2060. Therefore, and without any doubt, meals in schools and nurseries provided to our youngest members of society, play a pivotal role in both – sufficient and suitable meal supply as well as inclusivity for all students.

Parents need to be confident in their children’s school’s ability to keep their children safe, which includes the provision of suitable meals for kids with dietary requirements. Where possible our chefs create a menu that is free from as many common and well-known intolerance as possible to enable all children to enjoy the same food.

Staff training is vital to ensure the catering team have the best opportunity to learn about managing allergens in a busy kitchen. All our chefs are trained in Level 2 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness, which is recommended for catering staff, whereas supervisors complete Level 3 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness.

At Educatering Solutions, all our menus clearly identify all ingredients for transparency and whether the meal contains any of the top fourteen allergens.
